About the presentation
High Availability Solutions in the Database
Abstract: High Availability (HA) solution includes groups of computers that support server applications that can be reliably utilized with a minimum of down-time. They operate by redundant computers in groups that provide continued service when system components fail. HA solutions are often used for critical databases, file sharing on a network, business applications, and customer services which requires 24/7 up and running server environments. HA cluster implementations attempt to build redundancy into a cluster to eliminate single points of failure, including multiple network connections and data storage which is redundantly connected via storage area networks. There are several databases available in the market and most of them provides HA solution own way, though each of them would have own pros and cons. We will explore on the HA solutions offered by popular databases such as SQL Server, MYSQL, Oracle in the session.

Presenter: Suresh Gautam

Over seven years of experienced IT professional with System and Database Administration skills across Oracle, MYSQL, MSSQL, MongoDB and Vertica. Graduate in Information Technology and Oracle Certified Professional and having the ability to take the technical lead in the projects and supporting technical implementation whilst working on multiple products and database environments. Proven ability to implement technologies and improve process that decrease costs, increase performance and positively affect the bottom line.

Storage for the DBA

Abstract:
One of the biggest issues in database performance centre’s around storage. It’s also one of the hardest places to troubleshoot performance issues because storage engineers and database administrators often do not speak the same language. In this session, we’ll be looking at storage from both the database and storage perspectives. We’ll be digging into LUNs, HBAs, the fabric, as well as RAID Groups. In addition to theory, we’ll be looking at an actual EMC SAN so that we can translate what we see in the Storage Array with what we see on the actual server.

Presenter: Shree Prasad Khanal
