 SQL Server Locking and Blocking
Abstract: Understanding locking mechanism in SQL Server is as important as knowing how to write T-SQL and how the data being accessed via indexes.  This session, we will reveal the locking behaviour of SQL Server while reading and modifying the data under different circumstances. From there, we will explain all Transaction Isolation Levels in SQL Server using locks! 
Presenter: John Huang
John Huang is an independent SQL Server consultant based on Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He obtained SQL Server MCM (Microsoft Certified Master) in early year 2009 and has been awarded as MVP in last 2 years. He spoke in many events in US and Canada including SQL Saturdays, Tech Days Canada, DevTech, Tech Fest, as well as many local SQL Server chapters. He’s also the leader Victoria SQL PASS Chapter in BC, Canada.

Processing SSAS Multidimensional databases

Abstract: Processing of SSAS OLAP databases can be a tricky business, particularly when it comes to incremental processing of dimensions.  John will illuminate the dark interior of SSAS and describes how attribute relationships, aggregation design and different processing techniques can all have a positive or negative impact on your cubes.
John will give you real life examples of why certain approaches work and others do not, describing some of the pitfalls of each approach. At the end of the session, you should fully understand how to use Process Update and Process Add to incrementally update dimension data and also various approaches to processing fact partitions including negation strategies.

Mission Critical SQL Server 2012

Abstract: Mission critical is a major focus of SQL Server 2012. There are quite a few changes in this release to ensure that you maximize your uptime and reliability when it comes to SQL Server, including the new AlwaysOn availability groups feature and some changes to failover clustering. This session will give you a preview of what is coming (including some demos) and talk about how you can start thinking about and preparing for SQL Server 2012 even if it will be awhile before you use it in production.

Shree Khanal is a Database Architect, Speaker and Trainer having 10+ years of professional experience on database solution development and optimization. He is Microsoft Certified Database Professional from SQL Server 2000 to 2012. Since working with SQL Server 7, he has been working with all the version of SQL Server up to 2012 in production environment. In context of OLAP cube development, he started working on it from SQL Server 2000 to latest SSAS 2012. He has worked number of years providing SQL BI solutions to various enterprise clients most of them from BFI sector. He founded and has been leading the Himalayan SQL Server User Group (www.sqlpassnepal.org) based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
